If you support Barry Chamish why were you directing people to an anti-Chamish website?
The comment by “david ben ariel” pretending to be me and speaking against Barry Chamish shows how low the losers can go (and how desperate they are) who can’t refute what Barry Chamish says, as my many articles with references to Barry Chamish and his revealing articles proves. They fear the light Barry Chamish brings, disturbing their darkness, whether it’s insanely jealous folks like Steven Plaut or other treacherous juveniles in the pay of their Bolshevik masters.

A Country that Eats its People (Part 6)
This story is about an American family
that made Aliyah
Arrived 1987 - Departed 1989
FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid is the most important to get right. Some choose not to work and are instructed how to accomplish that through Israel's fuzzy socialistic system. They can secure unending hand-outs. True it supplies the meagerist of life styles, but there are plenty of ways to supplement that condition, with under the table methods. For those not wishing to live in this style, jobs are quickly found for them, supplying sufficient income for a comfortable life style. This aid is said to be available for all at the Merkaz. If only that were true.
Where do you think most find help? From their supportive organizations of course. Americans not being as fortunate, constantly shoulder a burden of one unsolved situation piled upon another. Transition from the Merkaz to the outside world, is further enhanced for most Olim, by the entire process being discussed in their mother tongue. This is invaluable when no one has not yet become proficient in Hebrew.
Americans on the other hand are laboriously prying bits of information from surly caretakers, that speak rock Ivrit (only Hebrew), or inadequate English at best. It takes (according to consensus), three years to master the language well enough so that important nuances can be understood. Why won't they or why can't "they speak English" when English is a mandatory language in all Israeli schools.
There is an easy way to remedy the problem. Hire Americans fluent in Hebrew. Many would jump at the opportunity. Many have applied for such work. I never saw one employed. Why?
THREE MONTHS HAVE GONE BY
Into the fourth month at the Merkaz, pandemonium still thrives. Conflicts grow more intense. Americans keep leaving, returning to the U.S.. For those remaining the system nibbles away at our resolve day after day, but somehow we fight on. Not everyone could maintain the stamina to forge ahead.
Looking back I am tempted to characterize the word stamina as stupidity. Incorporating resolve, stamina and whatever else available to hype myself, I arrange numerous appointments for job interviews. This was no easy task, by now you must realize nothing is. There has been no thought to equip the Merkaz with a system that enables communications needed for a job search. You may seethe all you want over this absence of an obvious need, but only you, will become aggravated.
There are no telephones allowed in the rooms although the connections are there. You must use the one and only public phone in the lobby, to make appointments and receive incoming calls. After waiting in line for half an hour or so, when your turn comes the phone has usually stopped working. More than once I have seen frustrated individuals tear the instrument from the wall. Getting the picture of job hunting?
Eventually I am told the front desk will take calls, write messages, and place them in your mail box. After receiving those garbled notes written in Hebrew, most deposited in your box a week after being received, you chalk that service up to another failed fantasy. Imagine, no help from your job councilor, no provisions to support your own attempts to find work. This is one kettle of fish you are bound to choke on.
Somehow I kept going and managed to arrange a day of meetings in Tel Aviv. It was exciting to have actually gotten this far, even if what should have been a weeks work took two months. With my rudimentary Hebrew learned on the street (not Ulpan), a pocket full of maps and travel instructions, I departed Karmiel for my first view of Tel Aviv.
Sitting at the back of the bus as I watched Karmiel recede into the distance, tension disappeared and I was in the best of spirits. Having grown up in New York, arriving in the big city was like old home week. It was teeming with activity, and I loved it. There was no end to the shops offering every conceivable item you might want. When I needed directions, and my attempts at using Hebrew failed, they switched to English effortlessly.
Every appointment was kept and the interviews couldn’t have gone better. Imagine interviews being pleasurable, never any tension and most important conducted in English. To be polite and demonstrate my desire to learn the mother tongue, I did manage a coherent sentence or two, and the effort was well received. The day was so enjoyable that not until it was coming to an end, did it dawn on me that the propaganda of the Merkaz Klita (the immediate necessity to learn Hebrew) was just that.
They were driving us crazy, insisting we learn Hebrew (which they didn't know how to teach), and yet I had spent a very important day speaking only English. It doesn't compute now, but it will later on.

Why Israel Won't Attack Gaza
WHY ISRAEL WON'T ATTACK GAZA
by Barry Chamish
In the late '90s, my work on the Rabin murder was a serious discussion topic in certain circles in Israel. One night I was at a very sabra party in Jerusalem when a man in his thirties, well wined up, started a conversation with me. He claimed he worked for Intelligence and began with the execution of Adolph Eichmann. I will now quote him, though years have past and I'm really paraphrasing our conversation as best as memory permits.
"The older guys tell me the Eichmann execution was staged. They released ashes over the sea but they weren't his. His trial was a show and they kept him in a soundproof cage in case he said the wrong thing. The deal with him was to say the right things and they'd let him live."
There was enough logic in this that I published it as a rumor and I said so. The item was well rebutted, especially by a man famously known as Rabbi Pruz, of New Jersey, who hosted Eichmann's executioner at his synagogue.
However, the gentleman continued with a story he claimed to have partially witnessed that made perfect sense. It concerned Defense Minister Rabin in the late '80s:
"Rabin wanted Israel out of Lebanon but the Lebanese government was too unstable to cut an agreement with. The Shiites under Hizbullah were forcing Israel out with a very demoralizing murder campaign against the army and he had to deal with them to make any agreement stick. He insisted on a thin security zone along the border to prevent armed attacks on Israeli territory, but he was willing to pull out of the rest of the country. But his zone was no good against Katyusha rockets or artillery shells flying over it.
"He ended up with a secret deal with Hizbullah and pulled out of Lebanon in stages to test whether they'd keep it. Rabin realized he couldn't demand a full cessation of rocket or artillery attacks against Israel. But he could make them more acceptable if there was only one target, that being Kiryat Shmoneh."
To guide the unacquainted. You drive north from Tiberius, which is below sea level and climb a steep road. You look back and see the The Puddle Of Galilee and imagine the day you can finally walk across the whole lake, perhaps in five or six years. You now have reached the top of the the climb and you turn right. You pass the lovely Bohemian-style town of Rosh Pina, the famous archeological site of Tel Khatzor until you finally arrive at a town of 15,000, resting on a mountain, Kiryat Shmoneh.
"Kiryat Shmoneh is 90% Sephardi and 85% of them are Moroccan. To the establishment, that made the town expendable. As Defence Minister, Rabin's first duty was to protect the Ashkenazi Labor/left kibbutzim around Kiryat Shmoneh, and the Ashkenazi towns along the border. If you want to know the safest places to live in the country they are Metulla, Rosh HaNikra, or Naharia. Rabin's deal means Hizbullah won't touch them."
Call it a one, albeit likely, source, or call it rumor mongering, but this item spread throughout the country. I met the most unlikely people espousing it back to me. It caught on because it fits reality so perfectly. In fact, Hezbullah kept its word for almost 20 years until the second Lebanon War broke out in 2006.
That said, another rumor has arrived, from a likely source. Temporarily gone are the days when I could meet Israelis at parties or they could meet me anywhere with information. For the time being, I rely mostly on electricity for anyone to communicate with me. I quote:
"...Sharon thought the PA would keep the peace in Gaza after he evacuated the Jews from there. Hamas taking over ruined his plan. When they started pounding Israel with crude rockets, the defence establishment wanted to go back into Gaza and stop the attacks. But the Bush administration went ape. That would stop their hopeless peace plans. They ordered Sharon and his Defence Ministry never to threaten the Hamas government militarily. The Pentagon gave Israel tiny border areas where the military could operate and outright banned any operation that could change the status quo and stop the rockets.
"Sharon was forced to enter into secret negotiations with Hamas to hammer out the rules of engagement. His number one concern was Ashkelon. It is Israel's fourth largest city and nearly impossible for rockets to miss from Gaza. And more frightening, the city has a broad political and national population. Something had to be sacrificed to save Ashkelon, and that something was Sderot, a mostly Moroccan town.
"The way I've been hearing it, Israel agreed not to fight a war in Gaza that would end in a regime change. Hamas could shoot as many rockets as it wanted, on condition that they miss their targets. In short, the deal was don't mass kill Jews and we'll keep you in power. Most rockets would be aimed at Sderot, or the desert. It was permitted to do damage there. But Ashkelon, and especially its power station, were to remain no-hit zones. In return, Israel offered an insurance policy. It will not prepare its people for a war against Gaza by refitting public or school bomb shelters, distribute gas masks and the like. Israel is being held captive by Hamas and the Americans.
"Hamas broke the deal once last May when Bush was in Jerusalem. They slammed a Katyusha into a shopping mall, maiming over a dozen. But otherwise, in a city as large as Ashkelon, the rockets always find 'open areas' to land in. If Hamas wanted to, it could aim at crowded football games, fairs, gatherings, just name wherever people gather. And if Israel wanted to, it could pound Gaza militarily and oust Hamas. But the way I've been told, there's a deal floating out there and neither side will break it."
**
More news but I can name the sources:
The fiesty Jerusalemite, Tova Rubin met with a sales rep from the Steimatzky book chain and convinced her to sell a selection of my books in Hebrew and English. She called to tell me that the rep informed her that all the books had been sold in a week. Tova added, "The buyer said he was your publisher." Thank you, Tova. There is no such publisher and why would he need to buy the books he published?
It's nice to be remembered by the Shabak for my good work.
The next day, my Jerusalem buddy of twenty years, Gemma Blech came to visit me. We had a fine visit and I arranged to have her interviewed on the Stan Monteith and Bill Deagle radio shows.
Gemma is the photographer for the Women in Green and for my book Bye Bye Gaza. http://www.lulu.com/content/575116 She was deeply upset by the provocateurs who had all but wrecked the protest movement and added, "The protest leaders are now getting old, and some sick. They don't appeal to people under 30. And the next generation is not producing future leaders. Our time is limited and when we go, I'm afraid, there will be no one to take over."
She named the leaders she knew, the provocateurs that everyone knows, but one name stood out for me, Yonah Baumel.
"He's doing poorly these days," she noted.
His son was one of three soldiers captured by Syria in the July, 82, Battle Of Sultan Yaacob in central Lebanon. Around the year 2000, the Commander of the soldiers' axis, Gen. Avigdor Ben Gal and his Intelligence Officer Mickey Shatz gave a small but profoundly important piece of information about the incident in the newspaper Kol Ha'ir. It seems that when Ben Gal and Shatz left camp, Ehud Barak, today's Defence Minister, and Amram Mitzneh, former Labor Party head, got on the radio and ordered a religious army brigade to enter a Syrian ambush. Twenty three Israelis died in the Sultan Yacob mess.
Not said was that Labor officers like Barak and Mitzneh were sabotaging Menachem Begin's winning war. And this fact was ignored by Yonah Baumel when I told him what had to be done to save his son. He was a tall, healthy man when I met him. I told him to hunt down Ben Gal and Shatz, verify their facts, call a press conference, and expose then Prime Minister Barak as a murderer of Jews. Sadly, he didn't do what had to be done and I didn't find out why until Barak's most recent appointment as Defence Minister. Yonah, almost, bravely announced that Barak was unfit for the office because he was involved in his son's kidnapping.
I reported on the incident and a priest wrote me from England protesting my piece. I assured him that every fact about Barak was accurate. He replied that I was right about Barak but wrong to write the soldiers' had been killed. The priest was working with Yonah to have his son released, almost a quarter of a century after he was taken prisoner. I wrote back saying that I hoped I was wrong and he was alive.
Few men lived as painful a life as Yonah Baumel, and few men could have remained so faithful to his son, and to the political system that took him away. Yonah believes the Israeli government can retrieve his son. So he remains true to an old ideal. But the truth is it can't because its Defence Minister was the one who stole his son from him.
I'm sorry to hear you're not well, Yonah. We need you to fully recover. You have one more vital task to complete.

Lyndon Johnson and the Jews
By Lenny Ben-David
A few weeks ago, the Associated Press reported that newly released tapes from US president Lyndon Johnson's White House office showed LBJ's "personal and often emotional connection to Israel." The news agency pointed out that during the Johnson presidency (1963-1969), "the United States became Israel's chief diplomatic ally and primary arms supplier."
But the news report does little to reveal the full historical extent of Johnson's actions on behalf of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Most students of the Arab-Israeli conflict can identify Johnson as the president during the 1967 war. But few know about LBJ's actions to rescue hundreds of endangered Jews during the Holocaust - actions that could have thrown him out of Congress and into jail. Indeed, the title of "Righteous Gentile" is certainly appropriate in the case of the Texan, whose centennial year is being commemorated this year.
Appropriately enough, the annual Jerusalem Conference announced this week that it will honor Johnson in February 2009.
Historians have revealed that Johnson, while serving as a young congressman in 1938 and 1939, arranged for visas to be supplied to Jews in Warsaw, and oversaw the apparently illegal immigration of hundreds of Jews through the port of Galveston, Texas.
A key resource for uncovering LBJ's pro-Jewish activity is the unpublished 1989 doctoral thesis by University of Texas student Louis Gomolak, "Prologue: LBJ's Foreign Affairs Background, 1908-1948." Johnson's activities were confirmed by other historians in interviews with his wife, family members and political associates.
Research into Johnson's personal history indicates that he inherited his concern for the Jewish people from his family. His aunt Jessie Johnson Hatcher, a major influence on LBJ, was a member of the Zionist Organization of America. According to Gomolak, Aunt Jessie had nurtured LBJ's commitment to befriending Jews for 50 years. As a young boy, Lyndon watched his politically active grandfather "Big Sam" and father "Little Sam" seek clemency for Leo Frank, the Jewish victim of a blood libel in Atlanta. Frank was lynched by a mob in 1915, and the Ku Klux Klan in Texas threatened to kill the Johnsons. The Johnsons later told friends that Lyndon's family hid in their cellar while his father and uncles stood guard with shotguns on their porch in case of KKK attacks. Johnson's speechwriter later stated, "Johnson often cited Leo Frank's lynching as the source of his opposition to both anti-Semitism and isolationism."
Already in 1934 - four years before Chamberlain's Munich sellout to Hitler - Johnson was keenly alert to the dangers of Nazism and presented a book of essays, Nazism: An Assault on Civilization, to the 21-year-old woman he was courting, Claudia Taylor - later known as "Lady Bird" Johnson. It was an incredible engagement present.
FIVE DAYS after taking office in 1937, LBJ broke with the "Dixiecrats" and supported an immigration bill that would naturalize illegal aliens, mostly Jews from Lithuania and Poland. In 1938, Johnson was told of a young Austrian Jewish musician who was about to be deported from the United States. With an element of subterfuge, LBJ sent him to the US Consulate in Havana to obtain a residency permit. Erich Leinsdorf, the world famous musician and conductor, credited LBJ for saving his life.
That same year, LBJ warned a Jewish friend, Jim Novy, that European Jews faced annihilation. "Get as many Jewish people as possible out [of Germany and Poland]," were Johnson's instructions. Somehow, Johnson provided him with a pile of signed immigration papers that were used to get 42 Jews out of Warsaw.
But that wasn't enough. According to historian James M. Smallwood, Congressman Johnson used legal and sometimes illegal methods to smuggle "hundreds of Jews into Texas, using Galveston as the entry port. Enough money could buy false passports and fake visas in Cuba, Mexico and other Latin American countries.... Johnson smuggled boatloads and planeloads of Jews into Texas. He hid them in the Texas National Youth Administration... Johnson saved at least four or five hundred Jews, possibly more."
During World War II Johnson joined Novy at a small Austin gathering to sell $65,000 in war bonds. According to Gomolak, Novy and Johnson then raised a very "substantial sum for arms for Jewish underground fighters in Palestine." One source cited by the historian reports that "Novy and Johnson had been secretly shipping heavy crates labeled 'Texas Grapefruit' - but containing arms - to Jewish underground 'freedom fighters' in Palestine."
ON JUNE 4, 1945, Johnson visited Dachau. According to Smallwood, Lady Bird later recalled that when her husband returned home, "he was still shaken, stunned, terrorized and bursting with an overpowering revulsion and incredulous horror at what he had seen."
A decade later while serving in the Senate, Johnson blocked the Eisenhower administration's attempts to apply sanctions against Israel following the 1956 Sinai Campaign. "The indefatigable Johnson had never ceased pressure on the administration," wrote I.L. "Si" Kenen, the head of AIPAC at the time.
As Senate majority leader, Johnson consistently blocked the anti-Israel initiatives of his fellow Democrat, William Fulbright, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Among Johnson's closest advisers during this period were several strong pro-Israel advocates, including Benjamin Cohen (who 30 years earlier was the liaison between Supreme Court justice Louis Brandeis and Chaim Weizmann) and Abe Fortas, the legendary Washington "insider."
Johnson's concern for the Jewish people continued through his presidency. Soon after taking office in the aftermath of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963, Johnson told an Israeli diplomat, "You have lost a very great friend, but you have found a better one."Just one month after succeeding Kennedy, LBJ attended the December 1963 dedication of the Agudas Achim Synagogue in Austin. Novy opened the ceremony by saying to Johnson, "We can't thank him enough for all those Jews he got out of Germany during the days of Hitler."
Lady Bird would later describe the day, according to Gomolak: "Person after person plucked at my sleeve and said, 'I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for him. He helped me get out.'" Lady Bird elaborated, "Jews had been woven into the warp and woof of all [Lyndon's] years."
THE PRELUDE to the 1967 war was a terrifying period for Israel, with the US State Department led by the historically unfriendly Dean Rusk urging an evenhanded policy despite Arab threats and acts of aggression. Johnson held no such illusions. After the war he placed the blame firmly on Egypt: "If a single act of folly was more responsible for this explosion than any other, it was the arbitrary and dangerous announced decision [by Egypt] that the Strait of Tiran would be closed [to Israeli ships and Israeli-bound cargo]."
Kennedy was the first president to approve the sale of defensive US weapons to Israel, specifically Hawk anti-aircraft missiles. But Johnson approved tanks and fighter jets, all vital after the 1967 war when France imposed a freeze on sales to Israel. Yehuda Avner recently described on these pages prime minister Levi Eshkol's successful appeal for these weapons on a visit to the LBJ ranch. (Pictured: LBJ receiving Yitzhak Rabin in the Oval Office.)
Israel won the 1967 war, and Johnson worked to make sure it also won the peace. "I sure as hell want to be careful and not run out on little Israel," Johnson said in a March 1968 conversation with his ambassador to the United Nations, Arthur Goldberg, according to White House tapes recently released.Soon after the 1967 war, Soviet premier Aleksei Kosygin asked Johnson at the Glassboro Summit why the US supported Israel when there were 80 million Arabs and only three million Israelis. "Because it is right," responded the straight-shooting Texan.
The crafting of UN Resolution 242 in November 1967 was done under Johnson's scrutiny. The call for "secure and recognized boundaries" was critical. The American and British drafters of the resolution opposed Israel returning all the territories captured in the war. In September 1968, Johnson explained, "We are not the ones to say where other nations should draw lines between them that will assure each the greatest security. It is clear, however, that a return to the situation of 4 June 1967 will not bring peace. There must be secure and there must be recognized borders. Some such lines must be agreed to by the neighbors involved."
Goldberg later noted, "Resolution 242 in no way refers to Jerusalem, and this omission was deliberate." This historic diplomacy was conducted under Johnson's stewardship, as Goldberg related in oral history to the Johnson Library. "I must say for Johnson," Goldberg stated. "He gave me great personal support."Robert David Johnson, a professor of history at Brooklyn College, recently wrote in The New York Sun, "Johnson's policies stemmed more from personal concerns - his friendship with leading Zionists, his belief that America had a moral obligation to bolster Israeli security and his conception of Israel as a frontier land much like his home state of Texas. His personal concerns led him to intervene when he felt that the State or Defense departments had insufficiently appreciated Israel's diplomatic or military needs."
President Johnson firmly pointed American policy in a pro-Israel direction. In a historical context, the American emergency airlift to Israel in 1973, the constant diplomatic support, the economic and military assistance and the strategic bonds between the two countries can all be credited to the seeds planted by LBJ.

It's great to read of cooperation between Joes and Jews, Joseph and Judah, since the United States (Artzot Habrit) - "the lands of the covenant" - is the prophesied biblical inheritance of Menashe ben Yosef.
Interesting (and controversial) to read about the illegal immigration of Jews into Galveston, Texas. I was in a work-study program at Kibbutz Sdot Yam, famous for illegal immigration and mentioned in Leon Uris' book, Exodus.

Where is our Zionist vision?
Dispute over Hebron home a new nadir in our moral deterioration
Benny Katzover
Ynet, November 19, 2008
The salvation of land and homes was for many years an important value and target within the Zionist enterprise. However, at this time we see moral deterioration on all fronts and it appears that we reached a new, grim phase not only do we lack initiative for realizing the Zionist enterprise, we utilize all our vigor and talent to boost our enemies.
The climax of this is happening, ironically enough, on the week where we read in the Torah about the first Jewish asset in the land of Israel at the hands of the first Jew, Abraham, who acquired the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron located so close to the house in question.
First, the facts: The House of Peace was acquired for more than one million shekels, by payments transferred through a mediator to the home’s owner, Faiz Rajbi. The payments were undertaken from March 2004 to March 2005. The agreement clearly stated that ownership of the house is transferred to the purchasers at the time of sale. These facts were also confirmed by the Israel Police’s labs.
There is a report ruling that the receipts presented by the Jewish purchasers for the payments they made are all authentic and are not suspected to be forgeries. The sale agreement itself is also not suspected to be forged in the view of the Israel Police.
In the phase between the purchase and its realization, the Jewish settlers locked the home and it stood empty for a month and a half.
As the house is located at a strategic site, near Kiryat Arba, and dominates the road from it to the Cave of the Patriarchs where tens of thousands of visitors pass yearly, the IDF entered the empty building and set up a dominating position on its roof.
After about two years, as part of the preparations for Jewish entry into the building, in light of the need to renovate it, more money was handed over to Faiz Rajbi through the mediator so that he renovate the home and make it fit for residence. The renovation work was carried out, and Jews moved into the home in March 2007.
Different versions
These facts are undisputed. In an audiotape, Rajbi recounts the fact that he renovated the building on behalf of the mediator. However, both the Prosecutor’s Office and the courts refused to listen to this tape for some reason. This enabled the Prosecutor’s Office to continue arguing against the move of residents into the house.
Therefore, both the Prosecutor’s Office and the High Court of Justice endorsed Mr. Rajbi’s claim that he never sold the house; however, this claim was disproven by the police probe. After he heard the audiotape, Rajbi changed his version of the story: He said he sold the house but annulled the sale back in 2004. This version is written in all documents submitted to the various courts. However, this version too was disproved by the police labs, which ruled that the receipts issued by him up until March 2005 are authentic.
How can the State Prosecutor’s Office, which is supposed to be representing the Jewish state, back Mr. Rajbi when there is an audiotape where he tells his friend how he sold the house, received full payment, and renovated it in line with the mediator’s request? He also tells his friend about being harassed by the Palestinian Authority.
We reached a situation whereby the High Court of Justice, the Prosecutor’s Office, and groups like Peace Now and its ilk are openly fighting in order to uproot not only truth and justice, but also the first root that grants us the right for our country.
Where can we find a supreme court that would condemn the High Court for showing contempt to the law and to the Israeli nation? And what great foresight did the smartest man of all, King Solomon, have when he ruled that “where there is no vision, the people perish”?

The Cain Syndrome - the Leftist War Against the Israeli Right
As we are writing this email, we have been told that the Supreme Court has announced its decision regarding Bet Hashalom in Hebron: despite the fact that the Jews brought all the proofs necessary to prove that Bet Hashalom was properly and legally bought, the Israeli Supreme Court has ordered to evict the Jewish legal owners. The Jewish residents have three days to leave willingly, otherwise the government will evacuate them by force.
We will update you as to what decisions are taken in the next few hours by the Kiryat Arba Hevron leadership. Meanwhile, it is very fitting that Women in Green just came out with a new booklet: "The Cain Syndrome"- the violent history of the Leftist Establishment's Dirty War Against the Right"
Women in Green hope to find the funds to print and distribute this booklet in thousands of copies in Hebrew, English and Russian. Meanwhile the booklet, below, will be put on our website. We urge you to forward this message to as many people as you can.
The time has come once and for all to stop the persecution of the leftist establishment in Israel against the national camp!

"The Cain Syndrome"
The Violent History of the Leftist Establishment’s Dirty War Against the Right
1904-2008
It feels like deja vu, but it’s a real and recurrent pattern in Zionist history: when the Leftist establishment in Eretz Yisrael feels its hold on power being threatened by the Right, it abandons democratic principles and methods for Bolshevik ones. The leftist arsenal is full of dirty tricks -- from disinformation to outright murder -- but because the Israeli media and the cultural and academic elites have always been dominated by the Left, the Left’s war against the Right is one Israeli war that has never been properly publicized.
As the Olmert-Barak-Livni government, riven with corruption and in-fighting, conducts a close-out liquidation sale of the Jewish Nation’s geographic, strategic, and spiritual assets, what alarm is being sounded? A familiar alarm about the danger to the State posed by the incitement and violence of the “extreme” right.
Government forces come in the dead of night, drag the Federman family with nine children from their beds, beating and cursing them, and destroy their home together with all their possessions. When a neighbor overcome by outrage and grief curses the destroyers, a siren is sounded throughout the state that wails out the threat of the "dangerous" settlers. Israel’s citizens are expected to suspend their normal cognitive activities, redefine the enemy, and stand at attention.
The confluence of the approaching elections and the remembrance day for Yitzchak Rabin, marked annually as a day of hatred and incitement against the Right, is now occasioning another hunting season or “Saison,” the actual name of the pre-state persecutions of the Revisionist Right. Women in Green has chosen to mark this occasion by laying out the historical record of who is violent and who threatens democracy so the public will not be duped by the government’s tried and true blood libels.
This booklet by historian Aryeh Yitzchaki is a brief abstract of his soon-to-be-published book on the subject. Its sketchiness is dictated by its brevity, so readers wishing to know more are advised to consult the publications listed in the Hebrew bibliography at the end.
Women in Green want to thank our dear friend and member Timna Katz for the translation of the booklet into English.
May we soon merit new leadership in Israel -- a real Jewish leadership that will serve the interests of the Jewish people in their land.

“The Mark of Cain"
A History of Leftist Violence and the Incitement Against the National Camp In Israel
1904 2008
by Aryeh Yitzchaki
During a century of Zionist history, the Left has gone to great lengths to prevent the Right from attaining leadership. The leftist factions generally utilized a two-pronged strategy to defeat their political opponents: by labeling their victims as public enemies, they justified their physical persecution. They kidnapped, tortured, beat, and murdered men on the Right and then congratulated themselves for their crimes.
The Murder of Da-Haan
Leftist violence started with verbal followed by physical attacks on leaders of the farmer communities of the First and Second Aliyah by workers of the left. It continued with the extradition of the Nili underground espionage network and with the failed murder attempt of the "Hashomer" organization on Yosef Lishanski, one of the Nili leaders. There were other political assassinations, such as the murder of chareidi politician Dr. Israel Da-Haan in Jerusalem in 1924 by Haganah commanders in Jerusalem led by Avraham Tehomi. Commanders of the Haganah also stole weapons from the warehouses of the rival "Haganah Leumit" organization.
Vicious Attacks Against Beitar Members
A new level of organized thuggery was reached with the savage beatings of Beitar Movement members all over the country by "Plugot HaPoel" groups belonging to the Histadrut. A typical attack took place during Passover of 1933, when hundreds of men armed with clubs and metal bars fell upon a group of Beitar youth, aged 12 to 14. Twenty-four children, some of them badly wounded, were hospitalized.
The Arlozorov Blood Libel
In June 1933, Zionist leader Dr. Chaim Arlozorov was murdered. Three innocent men, Abba Achimeir, Avraham Stavsky, and Meir Rosenblatt, were charged with the crime when their only real crime was their membership in Beitar.
Kidnappings, Torture, and the Murder of Eliyahu Shlomi
The war against the Revisionists continued in 1939 with the kidnapping and torture of Irgun men. The attacks climaxed with an attack by hundreds of thugs on a Beitar camp in Hertzliya on August 18, 1940. Eliyahu Shlomi was murdered and seven of his friends were wounded.
The Small Saison
In April of 1942, a new red line was crossed. The Shai, the intelligence service of the Haganah, organized a manhunt in which dozens of Lechi fighters were kidnapped, cruelly tortured, and finally extradited to the British. This ugly operation was called "The Small Saison (hunting season).”
The Big Saison
Between November 1944 and January 1945, the “anti-terrorist unit” of the Haganah kidnapped, tortured, and handed over about 200 Irgun fighters to the British. Most of the men were expelled to holding camps in Africa. The man responsible for this operation, called "The Big Saison," was David Ben-Gurion. The operation’s commanders were Yigal Alon followed by Shimon Avidan. Sadistic interrogators under the command of David Shaltiel beat and tortured their prisoners with terrible brutality. Irgun commander Ya'akov Tavin was held in a barn in Ein Harod for six months, handcuffed to a bed, where he was forced to defecate and urinate. Before interrogations he was sprayed with hoses; during interrogations the nails of his fingers and toes were torn out, his limbs were scorched with white-hot metal, and other horrors too graphic to describe were perpetrated.
Teddy Kollek the Collaborator
In the years that followed, the Haganah continued to hand over Jewish fighters to the British and to sabotage Irgun operations. Teddy Kollek, who liasoned with the British in his capacity of Jewish Agency communications officer, was a prominent collaborator. The Haganah led the British to the hiding place of the Lehi fighters Menachem Luntz and Shabtai Druker in Moshav Yavne'el on April 6, 1943. The fighters were surrounded and fought bravely to their death.
The Second Small Saison
Acts of kidnapping and torture continued in 1947 ("The Second Small Saison"). On January 11, 1948, two Irgun fighters, Yedidya Segal and Moshe Levi, were kidnapped in Haifa. Yedidya was brutally tortured to death by men of the special forces of the Haganah. Moshe Levi was injected with dangerous chemicals meant to act as a "truth serum" that irreversibly damaged his health. He was released after the murder of Yedidya Segal was exposed.
On April 8, 1948, twelve Irgun men sent to reinforce Mishmar Hayarden were attacked next to Ginnosar by a Palmach force of 100 men. They were savagely beaten and their weapons were confiscated. Mishmar Hayarden was left with no reinforcements, helping the Syrians to conquer the moshav later in the war.
The Altalena Massacre
In June 1948, the newly formed provisional government of Israel ordered the newly established Israeli Defense Forces to open fire on the Altalena, an Irgun ship carrying 900 immigrants, including Holocaust survivors, and arms to fight the battle of Jerusalem. Most of the immigrants barely managed to jump from the ship before it was blown up off the shore of Tel Aviv. Senior Palmach commander Yitzchak Rabin gave the order to open fire. Aside from bombing the ammo-heavy ship with cannons, sniper fire was directed at people in the water who were trying to reach land from the burning ship. Sixteen Irgun men were murdered in the attack, and hundreds of Jewish volunteers coming to Israel to fight the Arab enemy were arrested and humiliated.
Murdered by the Shai
During the War of Independence, two Irgun men were murdered without trial by the Shai, the Haganah’s intelligence branch. They were suspected of unintentionally killing Haganah men in an operation against the British in 1947. The Irgun men were fighting as soldiers in the 3rd and 9th Brigades of the united Israeli army. While battling the Arab enemy, they were shot in the back to make it appear that they were killed in combat.
After the Creation of the State
Unfortunately, once the State came into being, the dominant Mapai party did not call for national reconciliation and unity. Instead, the Left’s suppression of the Right moved from physical violence to civil and social discrimination. In the 50's, Irgun and Lehi fighters were prosecuted, ostracized, and banned from employment or advancement in many areas of public life. It was difficult for them to find jobs, and they were barred from joining the security forces.
The Kastner Blood Libel
The Shai created fictitious underground organizations so they could cook up new blood libels against the Right. When Israel Kastner was murdered by agents of the Shai on March 4, 1957, the murder was pinned on a fictitious right-wing underground movement.
The Likud’s rise to power in May 1977 put a temporary end to the incitement against the Right. For the first time in 44 years, the Left was in the opposition and briefly on the defense. But if the Left feared that once in power, the Right would treat it as it treated the Right, they quickly discovered that Menachem Begin truly sought a government of national reconciliation and unity. The Left, never interested in reconciliation but only in power, bided its time.
Oslo and the Renewed War Against the Right
In 1993, Yitzchak Rabin became prime minister and signed the Oslo Agreement with mass murderer Yasser Arafat. Israel’s public enemy number one now became the “enemies of peace,” those citizens opposed to Oslo, which included most prominently the Jewish residents of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. A campaign of hate and delegitimization was directed at the "settlers" which successfully marginalized them, preventing the growing mass public dissatisfaction with Oslo from becoming a decisive political force.
Over the course of fifteen years, hundreds were arrested, beaten, and humiliated, thousands were harassed, and hundreds of thousands were intimidated. The government adopted methods such as fabricated criminal files, anti-democratic administrative detentions, and destruction of private property. It reached the point where ordinary civil and human rights were suspended when it came to those branded as “settlers” or “right-wing extremists.” This process, sanctioned by a politicized court system and a cheering media, successfully suppressed effective opposition to the anti-Zionist drift of a post-Zionist government.
The (Anti-)Jewish Division of the Shabak
Its name changed, but not its methods: the State’s intelligence branch was now called the Shabak instead of the Shai, but it continued to instigate operations designed to falsely discredit the Right. A special department was actually created for this purpose. The Shabak recruited agent provocateurs such as Avishai Raviv ("Champagne") who founded fake underground organizations like "Eyal" and incited unbalanced figures like Yigal Amir to violence all for the purpose of destroying the legitimate and democratic opposition to Oslo and Israel’s post-Zionist leadership. An entire population was dehumanized and demonized in the service of this goal.
The Rabin Murder Blood Libel
On November 4, 1995, Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin was murdered by an apparently lone assassin with a strong connection to Shabak agent Avishai Raviv. The entire right wing public was blamed for the murder and its leadership was singled out for a campaign of legal harassment and public condemnation. [It was during this frenzied witch-hunt I was unjustly deported, as revealed in From Toledo to Jerusalem -DBA] Non-official investigations of the murder have advanced dramatically, and once their conclusions are published, they will dwarf the Arlozorov blood libel.
The Expulsion
In the summer of 2005, a crime of epic proportions was perpetrated against the Jewish People as a whole and against 8,000 of Israel’s most loyal and productive citizens in particular. Bulldozers of the State of Israel destroyed twenty-five blossoming Jewish communities in Gush Katif and Northern Samaria, and soldiers of the Jewish State dragged 8,000 men, women, and children out of the homes and farms that they had diligently and lovingly built over the course of a generation. The campaign of degradation and vilification against the people of Gush Katif and Northern Samaria that preceded their exile was especially heartless and ugly.
Once Gush Katif was handed over to Palestinian terrorists to use as a base for continued warfare against Israel, the leftist government announced "The Realignment Plan," an extension of the Gush Katif expulsion in Judea and Samaria. This plan called for the expulsion of another 70,000 Jews from their homes and the destruction of 60 additional towns and villages. While Israel’s abysmal failure in the Second Lebanon War temporarily froze this plan, the Left has lately resumed its efforts.
The Sternhall Provocation
The blatant harassment of ideologically strong individuals and communities in Judea and Samaria who live quietly on their land and the glaring disregard for their civil and property rights has been the order of the day for the past few years. To justify the unjustifiable and to remind the public who Israel’s real enemy is in the wake of the approaching elections, it was time for a new blood libel against the Right. A leftist professor who has spent his career inciting violence against the “settlers” was attacked by some shadowy group that surprise, surprise appears to bear the hallmark of past Shabak fictions.
A Second “Big Saison” Circa 2008?
During these days the government has been issuing new decrees almost daily against the national camp in general and the citizens of Judea and Samaria in particular: expulsion orders, restriction orders, administrative detentions (indefinite imprisonment without legal process), police violence, the prohibition of demonstrations, cutting off water and electricity to Jewish settlements, the destruction of settlements all accompanied by the familiar, strident denunciations of the “violent extremists” on the right.
If the public makes clear that it knows what the real score is - who the violent ones really are and who is really trampling democracy - perhaps we can avoid a "New Big Saison" in 2008.
Conclusion:
Women In Green has noted the growth of a new phenomenon, a new tool in the Left’s bag of dirty tricks not mentioned in the inventory above: the government is allowing outsiders into Judea and Samaria to foment constant clashes and conflict. Foreign “anarchists” and anti-Israel activists of all stripes have banded together with Israeli traitors and Arab activists to stir up trouble and undermine the Israeli army presence and the state’s security needs in Judea and Samaria.
These groups are funded, whether secretly or openly, by foreign, anti-Zionistic and anti-Semitic organizations, often with the cooperation of Muslim and Arab terror organizations. They are protected by an unholy alliance within the government, the Israeli press, and the judicial system. They are encouraged by a cultural and intellectual elite that lauds Israel’s enemies while excoriating her defenders. [Watch for foreign "peacekeeping" troops to be invited into Israel, resulting in German-EU occupation of Jerusalem, as warned in Woe to Ariel! (Jerusalem to Suffer EU Occupation) - DBA].
May the people of Israel rise above their sectarian quarrels and differences to address the huge existential threats to Israel’s existence in the coming elections.

Israel must reject an Al Capone "peace"

What if...?
November 10, 2008
What if tomorrow all of our Arab enemies really wanted to make peace with Israel? What if Syria truly agreed to have complete peace with Israel in exchange for the Golan Heights? What if the PLO agreed never to launch another scud; never to blow up another bus or supermarket; never to crash a tractor into civilian cars and busses; never to stab another Jew; never to throw another rock at a passenger car, in exchange for a real state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza?
I would imagine that any of our leaders, or likely potential leaders, here in Israel would declare a national holiday and rush to sign on the dotted line to give away parts of our holy inheritance for real peace! Yes, even Bibi Netanyahu would exude joy and delight at the prospect of a new era of peace.
While, clearly, such a scenario is most unlikely, the reality is that a true Jewish leader would never consider parting with any part of Eretz Yisrael, even for genuine peace with our Arab neighbors. If we look at the other side of the coin we will see that no Arab nation ever willingly parted with what he considered his land. This is because the Arabs really believe the land belongs to them and they have self respect. The Jewish government, on the other hand, does not really believe that the land belongs to us, and they have no idea what self respect means. As President Shimon Peres once said, “Any entity which refuses to compromise its principles will never achieve peace.” Of course it is only Israel which compromises its principles... and she has yet to see any peace.
No country in the world would dream of sitting with murderous thieves in a futile attempt to appease them by willingly giving up parts of its homeland. This isn’t “negotiations”. It is out and out blackmail. It is what Al Capone once called “protection”. If you pay the goons “protection money”, they will stop wrecking your store. Is this the kind of “peace” we seek? Yet all of our leaders seem to eagerly accept such a peace.
Aside from the fact that this is obviously self delusion, we have no right to give away our inheritance even for real peace. We Jews were not given the land as a gift. We were given an obligation to possess, dwell in, and develop the Land according to Jewish mandates in our Torah.
Failing to do so in no way lessens our obligation. Trying to make “peace” by denying our obligations not only will never bring peace... it will and does bring needless tragedy as we have clearly seen. Look at all the peace we achieved by giving Gaza to the PLO. How can any intelligent person imagine that real peace will be achieved by giving away yet more land to those who are just waiting to use it as a base from which to destroy Israel?
It is forbidden to give away any part of our homeland, even to those who wish to live in peace with us.
How much moreso to think to give away land to those who are committed to our destruction? For real peace we should welcome foreigners to live as resident aliens, with no political rights and certainly no rights to sovereignty. Should such people wish to live in Israel and abide by our laws they should be given human rights only. When someone comes as a guest and then demands sovereignty, he is not really a guest, rather an enemy who must never be accepted under any circumstances. To negotiate with such people is to surrender your sovereignty even before any agreement might be reached. It is time for all Jews to understand the difference between peace and yielding to blackmail. It should be obvious. But clearly it isn’t.
Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike,to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.

Miriam Weiss: Kibbutz Mother and Holocaust Survivor

Miriam Weiss, David Ben-Ariel
Pesach at Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan 1990
Miriam Weiss: Holocaust Survivor and Kibbutz Mother
Miriam Weiss: June 29, 1915 - January 4, 1997
On that precious list of "Righteous Gentiles" (rare individuals who assisted Jews during the Holocaust) is the great name of Jan Bulski who risked his life and family in Poland to save my "kibbutz mother" -- Miriam Weiss -- who I met and was "adopted" by at Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan near Haifa in Northern Israel while a volunteer there from October 1982 to February 1983.
This is an excerpt from my "Life is a Trek" blog article Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, Restal Hotel, Tiberias, Israel -- a letter I wrote an American friend (without touching it up for spelling), July 27, 1989 from Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, Israel:
"Miriam & I cried yesterday when she received a letter stating the man in Poland who hid her & saved her from the Gestapo & Holocaust, died. She opened up last week & told me what I hadn't known & how wealthy she was raised, how wealthy she married w/jewellery & furs & extensive rich contacts & travel in Europe & how happy she was, and had a cook for her & her husband & a maid also, & how after Hitler invaded Poland her husband immediately joined the underground buying weapons & insisting she move in w/friends for safety sake & how he was later captured by the Gestapo & murdered in Matthausen, Austria concentration camp & how sick w/grief & pain she was, she so loved him. And how one of the women who risked their lives to help save her later was caught attempting to save others & was murdered herself after being shipped to Ravensbruck concentration camp & how her mother was in the Warsaw Ghetto & sent to the gas chambers in Treblinka concentration camp. She cried when she spoke of how much pain can one take after her husband's death. Miriam just turned 74 about a month ago. I don't know how they handle such hell... She's been ill for the last 2 months & I feel helpless to help her..."
While writing this article to honor Miriam's memory and share history, I've practically gone mad looking for the fuchshia-colored paper I knew I had with her maiden name and the name of her Catholic Polish husband, a Gentile, one of four brothers who each owned the largest industrial banks in Poland, a paper I typed up in her home the day after she gave me detailed information about her life. I can't find it and wonder if I threw it out figuring Yad Vashem already has the information or what, but I can't imagine doing that as I would want to add my personal touch and memories to it. Perhaps it's all symbolic of the fears and frustrations of looking for lost family members, Holocaust survivors, and it's out of your control and so overwhelming.
Miriam said when Heydrich (Himmler?) thought things were going too slowly in Poland, he decided to round up a lot of people on "Black Saturday." That's when they took her husband away since he was involved in the Polish Underground. Miriam said she was in the Warsaw Ghetto with her mother (Miriam's parents were Zwi and Hana Hampel) but got out and was hid by a woman who was later sent to Ravensbruck herself for helping to rescue Jews. One night some drunk Poles came and banged on the door and told the woman they knew she was hiding "schwein, Jewish schwein," pretending to be Gestapo, and only left when they got a fur out of it. That's when the lady told Miriam she would have to go back into the Warsaw Ghetto until some other place could be found for her.
Miriam said that she had dyed her hair blond to look as Aryan as could be and wore a widow's veil and that the Nazi guards at the Warsaw Ghetto made a comment about how young she was to already be a widow. Later when another place was found for Miriam, she said her mother was so happy for her to get out but it was the last time she saw her and Miriam attributes her survival to her mother's prayers. Miriam said her mother was sent to Treblinka where she died, but a letter from Henia Seidman [Miriam's best Israeli-Polish friend] to me says she died in the Warsaw Ghetto. Miriam also said, if I remember correctly, that she was hid in a hole in the ground at Jan Bulski's place, and that the only thing to comfort her was a small vial of perfume she kept. I always gave her a gift of perfume for Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles). Henia wrote Miriam was hidden in their kitchen. One thing for sure is Miriam said after the war everybody talked about where they were during the war and how hardly anybody could believe where she was hidden, as Jews weren't welcome there before the war! Miriam felt the Poles were more anti-Semitic than the Germans.
Miriam told me that she later arranged, after the Russians came, to make it to Berlin but you could never know for sure if the one you paid to help you get there would show up or come through and her help did, but she ended up in the Russian section of Berlin on Christmas Eve and was in a small room with no windows and mattresses on the floor with about 50 other people crammed in there. She said everybody hoped to get into the American quarter. She also said after the war there was so much food, almost too much food.
Miriam married someone I think she met that Christmas night in Berlin or knew him in Poland, Hanoch Eisenberg, and wandered with him in Europe and as Henia wrote, "the Joint brought her and her husband...to Italy. From Italy they went by ships to Israel, but in the time of English Mandate their ship was kidnapped and brought to Cyprus camps. In Cyprus they were perhaps a year and in 1949 they came to Ramat Jochanan."
Actually, Miriam had some friend or relative visiting Ramat Yohanan from Kibbutz Yagur who was reading a letter from her, as Miriam told me, and she started crying and Henia Seidman, being the soft-hearted woman she's known to be, asked her why and she told her how Miriam was so depressed in Cyprus and Henia said for her to tell her to plan to come to Ramat Yohanan. When Miriam first came to the kibbutz from Cyprus after Israeli independence, they called for Henia who was working in what was then the kitchen (not the big beautiful cheder ochel -- dining room -- they have today, she pointed out), practically a wooden shack, and although she had soot or something on her face her beautiful blue eyes shone through (and Henia had such beautiful blue eyes) and Henia and her mother hugged and welcomed Miriam as family. Henia's family left Poland before the Holocaust.
Miriam divorced Eisenberg who didn't want to stay on the kibbutz and moved to Tel Aviv. She later married - for one day - David Weiss from the kibbutz. I used to say hello to him and often saw him working at the kibbutz factory, Palram. A very short man, older, with white hair. I once ate with David and mentioned the Queen of England continued King David's dynasty, and was surprised he was familiar with the belief but appeared to dismiss it as "a nice story."
Miriam and Henia were both short Polish Jews. We would always sit together in the dining room and eat and they would carry on in Polish and some Hebrew and English. If you didn't know them you would think they were always arguing, but that's just how they talked, as I chuckle remembering them. The mail boxes were in the dining room too, and since it was easier for me to walk with my "long legs" and get Miriam's mail, I would. That's how I brought the letter to her that day when we found out Jan Bulski had died. I had only written him about once and sent him maybe $20 or more through some grateful Polish organization in Toledo, Ohio that would make sure he received it. They said it would be exchanged on the black market for more zlotys. He was a diabetic and did receive something monthly from Yad Vashem after Miriam and Henia saw to it. A tree was also planted in his honor on the "Avenue of the Righteous Gentiles" at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Miriam cried and said he didn't have to risk his life and the life of his family to save her but that he did and that he was such a good man. Henia and I just kept quiet and wept with her.
Miriam told me her family had their money from the tea industry. They bought and sold the famous Lyon tea from England and then repackaged it or whatever they did to make a profit. She loved the European concerts and later travelled with her husband all over Europe and North Africa. She said her love of music came from her mother.
Miriam had another kibbutz "son" like me, also an American, whose name is Joe from New Hampshire. She was going to leave him her photo-album. Joe travelled with her to Switzerland to visit a mutual friend whom Miriam tried to play matchmaker between him and her, but they remained friends and nothing more. Miriam used to ask why Moses couldn't have led the Children of Israel to Switzerland! People would speak of Miriam's sons as "Joe and Hoover." (I was born with the family name of Hoover but legally changed my name to David Ben-Ariel for religious reasons). Miriam used to exclaim, "Do you know how many people would love to have your passport? To be an American?" I would tell her that although I dearly love the United States I want to live in Israel and she would mellow and say something like, "Well, if that makes you happy, if that's what you want." She also worried that I would get killed like Meir Kahane for being so outspoken.
One of my many fond and funny memories is Miriam and I arriving somewhat late to a Sukkot celebration around the swimming pool at Ramat Yohanan, and there were plenty of people standing around and we looked for a place to stand and then she found a bale of straw to sit on near the front and then there appeared to be some confusion as the lady who was to lead the children's singing was frantically looking about and then discovered that Miriam was sitting on the folded banner that had the words to their song!
Miriam used to rest in bed after we ate in the afternoon and listen to her classical music (I gave her Grandma Vivian Hoover's classical albums) and read The Jerusalem Post and then sigh how she hated politics, comment that she was weary of world news, but she would continue to read the newspapers and listen every hour on the hour to the news on the radio as I read a book or wrote in her living room (where she displayed the Austrian crystal glass castle I once gave her for a gift, which I called "the Kingdom of Messiah" -- because of its brilliance -- and Joe's paintings adorned her walls...Miriam had an artist and an author for her sons).
Every time I visited Israel, I would head straight for Miriam's. The last time I saw her was in 1995 when her friends told me she had Alzheimer's. She had been moved from her apartment to the nursing home. They told me if she would remember anybody, it would be me. I went in and she was strapped in a wheelchair, wanting out, and wanting me to get her out and speaking German to me. (Miriam knew German, English, Polish and Hebrew). She held on to my arm so tightly, looking frightened, and I said, "Miriam, it's David. I'm American. Speak Hebrew or English. I don't know German." She was crying and I was crying. Another Miriam, originally from Berlin, was very angry about Miriam's deteriorating situation and said the Germans who doubted the Holocaust should hear Miriam reliving it and crying out for her mother, as if once wasn't enough! Henia wrote me that Miriam was born in Poland June 29, 1915 and died January 4, 1997 at Ramat Yohanan and was buried there and "got a very fine monument at our cemetery."
For greater insight into my beloved Miriam, I'll close with portions of a March 18, 1988 letter of commendation she wrote on my behalf to Joseph Tkach, Jr. of the Worldwide Church of God:
...my kibbutz son David Hoover...first came to our kibbutz seven years ago...he posted [actually somebody else did in the communal dining room] an article he had written about his struggle to free himself from drugs for all the members to read. A very brave thing to do since drug addiction is here considered a terrible social and personal crime. I invited him to visit me and we subsequently got to know each other well. David stayed on our kibbutz six months the first time. He worked hard and thus earned the respect of many members here. There was never any trouble. Quite the contrary. And David shared with us his Christian beliefs that had given him such strength to overcome his addiction...When I say he shared his beliefs I mean that he offered but did not force them upon us. As might be well known to you we are sensitive to any aggressive presentations of Christianity that denigrate our Jewish heritage. But David has a deep and affectionate respect for it. I myself am not religious and must admit that I am sometimes bewildered by his impressive knowledge of the Bible and Jewish customs but if it give his life fulfillment I am very happy for him...Over the past seven years David has come to Ramat Yohanan to celebrate Sukkot. He has stayed with me and is a very well behaved guest. He also corresponds with me regularly and started my subscription to Plain Truth which I do read with interest. Recently I continued the subscription. I might add that several other members of our kibbutz now read it too...I think confidence can be placed in him to represent your church here in the Middle East...
Sincerely,
Shalom,
Miriam Weiss
I yearn to return to Zion and visit Miriam's gravesite, but Ramat Yohanan just wouldn't be the same without her. And the dining room without Miriam or Henia...

America will Become an Obama Nation
November 3, 2008
It is incredible to watch as the world begins to crumble before our eyes. Not only is Europe practically under the control of radical Islam, but the USA is about to elect a new President who promises change... and who will deliver the most radical change that country has ever experienced.
Our Rabbis tell us that Exile and Redemption cannot co-exist. As the Redemption nears, Exile must come to an end. Since most Jews prefer to live in Exile, the Exile is beginning to “vomit them out”. The process has already begun in France. It is quickly spreading to other countries. And even the great Land of Freedom, the USA, will not remain a welcome Exile for Jews... and sooner than we think.
The hapless leaders of the Jewish State have no idea that preparations are being made for Israel to be the leader of all nations. This is a G-dly process and destined to happen. But our leaders do not believe in G-d. Their trust is mainly in the USA, which is about to fall apart. Rather than stand tall and be a proud nation, our leaders project an image of being a servant to the needs of the USA.
Just to prove to Washington that we have a greater interest in pleasing American interests then even our own basic need to survive, our leaders are already paving the way for another Gaza fiasco. A carefully designed program to make the Jews who live in Judea and Samaria look like crazed demons has already been launched. When Jews in Hebron, who were living for years in a so-called “outpost” within the boundaries of Kiryat Arba and causing no protest from anyone other than our own government, were violently thrown out of their homes and had those homes completely destroyed by Jewish soldiers without any warning, the newspapers only reported the curses of Jews against those who committed such an atrocity. And it transformed those curses, which were made by only one or two people, into headlines describing all the Jews in Judea and Samaria as enemies of justice.
It is interesting to note that a Jew who owns property in Bet Tzafafa, a Jerusalem suburb, has been fighting for over thirteen years to have the government remove thieving squatters from his land. He has proven in Israeli courts that the land is legally his and that the Arabs living there are lying thieves. The court even agreed that the squatters should be removed. Yet the police are either too busy, don’t have enough manpower, or are just too afraid of the Arab response to execute a court order! The thieves are still occupying Jewish Land and the police are turning a blind eye! Yet to destroy Jewish homes for strictly political reasons, there is no shortage of manpower.
Now the media is reporting estimations by security heads that radical Jews are preparing to launch a war against the Israeli military. Prime Minister Olmert has instructed defense minister Barak to prepare to deal with the situation. Thus the stage has been set to delegitimize hundreds of thousands of Jewish citizens by virtue of the fact that they live in Judea and Samaria. It is the government itself which is justifying and orchestrating a future civil war. It is already trying to terrorize patriotic Jews in the hope that they will voluntarily leave their homes to make it easier to “negotiate peace” with those who have already proven that such negotiations only lead to more violence as we have seen in Gaza.
Redemption is clearly underway. G-dless nations and even G-dless Jewish politicians refuse to recognize it. Such people think that they control what happens on this Earth. Yet this is exactly the reason for the Divine Process of Redemption. It is time for the entire world to realize that it has a Creator which it must serve. As the world plunges into chaos, much like it did in the time of the Tower of Babel, it is up to us to lessen the needless tragedy by recognizing and working with the Divine Process. Those who oppose the process will fall. Those who stand with it, even against the great majority, will succeed. For the Jew it is time to come home. And for the Gentile it is time to oppose the majority and stand with Biblical Destiny.
Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike,to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.
